I died the easy way asleep the world went soft and wide the walls let go the colors bled the ceiling opened like a tide. I watched my hands become the light they used to try to hold. Nothing hurt. That's how I knew the story had been told. No floor no sky no name and still I wasn't gone. Something small was keeping score. Something small held on. I woke up in the dark and I was everything no eyes and I could see. Held so close I couldn't move and never felt so free. The dark was not the end of me the dark's from where I rise a seed don't fear the burying it's how it earns the skies. The stillness leaned. The stillness pushed. The black began to bend. I couldn't tell if I was moved or moving toward an end or a beginning wearing the ending's borrowed clothes. The only way I'd ever know was up. So up I chose. A thread of light a wound of white a crack that wouldn't close. Something old was letting go. Something new arose. I woke up in the dark and I was everything no eyes and I could see. Held so close I couldn't move and never felt so free. The dark was not the end of me the dark's from where I rise a seed don't fear the burying it's how it earns the skies. Break me open I was never whole I was only closed. Break me open what I called my skin was just a door I froze. I am splitting at the seam of me and spilling into sky you can bury what I was but watch what I do with why. I came up through the dark and I am everything first light on my first green. Rooted where they laid me down saluting what I've seen. The dark was not the end of me the dark's from where I rise they planted me to close the book I grew into the skies.
